When Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur flipped the coin in the air, Fatima had called 'tails'. However, the match referee Shandre Fritz and announcer Mel Jones heard it as 'heads'. On landing, it was eventually heads and the toss was awarded to Fatima, who opted to field. Harmanpreet, at the time, did not object to the decision.
Both teams made one change each to their Playing XIs for their second league stage match. Continuing with the pattern in men's cricket, the two captains opted not to shake hands at the toss.
